While first year sessions are much more flexible than newborn sessions, I still take on a limited amount per month. Once your retainer is submitted, I will save you a slot on my calendar. If you are looking to have a photo-shoot done within the near future, we can get a date on the calendar right away. If you are booking a session quite far in advance, we can wait until it gets closer to nail down a date.

What is the best age to get photographs done?
There are three basic "milestones" that we generally photograph within the first year. The first is when they wake up, develop that personality and begin smiling around 3-4 months. The second is when they are able to sit up on their own, which is usually around 6-8 months. And the third is their birthday! I recommend birthday sessions take place 3-5 weeks before their actual birthday if possible.
The best age for photographs is without a doubt the "sitter" age at 6-8 months. At this age, babies are able to sit and will have quite a personality, but they will not be mobile (crawling/walking away). They also have typically not developed separation anxiety, meaning they will not cry every time mom puts them down. Sitter sessions are almost always easier, more relaxing, and result in the fullest gallery with the most poses, setups and outfits.
If you only plan on doing one photo shoot within the first year, this is the age I would recommend. And be warned - this phase doesn't last long!
Can you photograph my other siblings or the whole family?
Sibling and family photos are not included in a milestone or cake smash session, but can be added on for a fee.
What is the difference between a milestone session and a cake smash?A milestone session includes setups of baby-only portraits. We typically do one setup on a solid backdrop and one on a wood backdrop. Each setup will include it's own outfit and accessories.
A cake smash is intended for babies turning one year old. A cake smash session includes one non-cake portrait setup (typically on a wood backdrop), one cake smash setup (on a solid backdrop with a banner), and a post-cake basin bath (if baby allows).
Can one year old do a milestone session instead of a cake smash?
Absolutely! However, one year olds are often quite mobile and lose interest with pictures quickly. In my experience, the cake serves a very functional purpose of keeping one year olds entertained and busy so that we can capture more pictures once they get bored. :)
Do you provide everything needed?
For milestone sessions, I provide props, outfits, wraps, headbands, and hats. I have dedicated a large amount of my resources to sourcing the best props from the top vendors in the world. Fit, quality of materials, and photographic quality are extremely important to me, and I do not settle when it comes to the props I use in my pictures.
For cake smash sessions, I provided everything needed but the cake! A cake stand, banner, as well as outfit and minimalist accessories to fit a theme or requested color scheme.
