How this all works
Once your retainer is submitted, I will save you a slot on my calendar as a tentative date based on your actual due date. Once your baby arrives if the session date needs to be moved due to baby coming earlier or later we will be able to do so at that time.
I ask that you send me an email or text within two days of delivering along with a quick picture of your baby and their weight. From there, we will schedule your session.
Sessions are most successful when held within the first 14 days. If your baby has jaundice, is underweight, or premature we may opt to push your session back. The comfort and safety of your child, and you, is always our first priority.
Where will my newborn's session be done?
I have a small studio located in Olney, Texas just for newborns and milestone portrait sessions. The room temperature is at about 80 degrees for newborns. There is a small lounge area as well as snacks & water for you to relax with while I pose and wrap your baby and take their pictures! I don't normally recommend bringing extended family members to newborn sessions due to the space I have in the room.
When should I book?
I take on a very limited number of newborn sessions per month, to ensure flexibility in scheduling. My calendar often fills several months in advance, so it is recommended that you reach out early in your pregnancy to guarantee a spot.
How old should baby be?
Babies photograph best within the first 6-14 days, as they are the sleepiest and are still quite flexible from being in the womb. If you’ve missed that window, we can still capture beautiful newborn pictures but we will focus more on wrapped poses and you may not get through as many poses as a true newborn would. I have successfully completed several sessions for babies three weeks old all the way up to eight weeks. I highly encourage my wrapped mini session package for babies that are older than three weeks old.
Can you photograph my other siblings?
I love to include siblings in newborn pictures, and even love to grab a couple of them alone if conditions allow. I have several poses that I am able to use, depending on the age and number of siblings. Safety is always first priority. I also do sibling & family photo at the beginning of the newborn session so you are welcome to take your older child or children after we are done!
Do you photograph multiples?
I have lots of experience working with multiples! I have photographed several sets of twins both for newborn and milestone sessions. I find that my more relaxed style of posing with a focus on wrapped poses is a great fit for multiples.
I do not charge extra for multiples, but do require that you book a full session as multiples are more time consuming.
Do you provide props?
I provide everything that may be needed for your session, including props, outfits, wraps, headbands, hats and bonnets. I have dedicated a large amount of my resources to sourcing the best props from the top vendors in the world. Fit, quality of materials, and photographic quality are extremely important to me, and I do not settle when it comes to the props I use in my pictures.
Can I include something I already own?
I'd be happy to include something in your session that is of sentimental value. I just ask that you send me a picture ahead of time so I can plan, if possible. While I love incorporating special pieces into sessions, I recommend that parents not buy their own headbands or outfits. Most pieces that are available to non-photographers will be too large for a true newborn, even if marked as a newborn size.
Do you do other types of sessions?
Yes! I absolutely love the fact that I can grow with the families I work with. In addition to newborns, I do milestone sessions during their first year, as well as family sessions, senior sessions and sports photography. I take on a limited amount of full family sessions in the fall and usually offer mini sessions as well. Priority is always given to returning customers, and I often sell out before they even have a chance to reach the public.
